What is Stripe?
Mightycause utilizes Stripe for payment processing on personal cause fundraisers. When you receive a donation on Mightycause, the funds will be sent to your Stripe account. Payouts are then made to the bank account that you have linked to Stripe.
What are the fees?
Stripe's standard rate for US customers is 2.9% +$0.30 per donation, with a 1.5% surcharge for any international credit card transactions. Please note, if your bank account and address is located outside the US, rates may vary. Please check here to review processing fees for your country.
The processing fee will be automatically deducted from your disbursement.
How do I setup my Stripe account and link it to Mightycause?
You can begin setting up your Stripe account by heading over to your fundraising page and on the left-hand side dashboard and selecting “Bank Setup.”
You can choose to create your own account or invite a recipient (beneficiary).
If you plan on inviting a recipient, enter their information and select "Invite Recipient." This will email them instructions to link their account with Mightycause.
If you plan on linking it to your own account, select "Link Account." You will be prompted to either login or setup an account:
At the bottom of the page, your last step is to enter an email and choose a password for Stripe and click on “Authorize Access to this Account”.
Once you fill out and submit the form, you will be redirected back to Mightycause, and you’ll be ready to go!
Why is Stripe asking for business information during signup?
In addition to individual users, Stripe is also designed to service payment processing for businesses. The fields that can only be completed if you are a business, such as the EIN / company number, are optional.
For the ‘Tell us about your business question’, simply describe your fundraiser and your personal cause. For the business address field, enter your personal address.
How do I receive my donations from Stripe?
If you have completed the setup process, withdrawing your available funds to your bank account will happen automatically! Transfers will be automatically completed every two business days. However, your first transfer may take a little longer (around 7 days). You can confirm your payout schedule and estimated payout timing in your Stripe Dashboard.
Can Stripe be used internationally?
You must have a valid bank account and address in a Stripe verified country. You can review the list of countries here. Currently, the only currencies supported on the platform are USD, EUR, GPB, CAD, AUD, and NZD.
Fundraisers can accept payments from customers located anywhere in the world.
